Tail-Waggers Club at the La Salle Public Library
Families are invited to join in with Reading Dogs at the La Salle Public Library. Several Reading Dogs and their humans visit the library; there, the dogs are entertained with stories read by children. Pre-readers, struggling readers, proficient readers - the dogs truly enjoy all of the stories. Kids choose a favorite short book and read aloud for about 5 minutes. Usually, children will have more than one opportunity to read.
The September schedule for Tail-Waggers is:
Saturday, September 21st
Pam and Vera - 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to read. For kids who are not reading independently yet, parents may read while the child holds the book and turns the pages. Both the audience and the dogs love the pictures, so even non-readers can hold up a book to show the illustrations to everyone. To help children feel confident in their reading, they should plan to read from a familiar story.
Tail-Waggers Club is free and open to the public. The La Salle Public Library is located at 305 Marquette St.
