"Playing with the Enemy: A Baseball Prodigy, World War II, and the Long Journey Home

On Tuesday, August 25th at 6:00 p.m. the La Salle Public Library will host, virtually, author Gary Moore, when he discusses his book, "Playing with the Enemy," a biography about his father, Gene Moore. 

Filled with history and hope, Gene Moore's life begins and ends in a small, downstate Illinois town but encompasses World War II North Africa, baseball and dreams of the Majors, a captured German U-boat and an uncommon and extraordinary friendship with "the enemy". 

Gary Moore is the author of the acclaimed book, Playing with the Enemy, which won the 2006 Military Writers Society of America Book of the Year.   He has appeared on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX, and has spoken to groups, both large and small, from coast to coast, and in Europe.  He lives in Bourbonnais.
