"The Eagle Has Landed! NASA Lunar Lander Challenge" at the La Salle Public Library

Where:
La Salle Public Library

When
Saturday, July 20, 2019

On Saturday, July 20th, at 2:00 p.m. the La Salle Public Library will host, "The Eagle Has Landed! NASA Lunar Lander Challenge."

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11's successful Moon landing, participants will be challenged, in this hands-on engineering workshop, to design and create a Lunar Lander out of craft materials that will safely deliver its payload to the surface of the "Moon."  Once constructed, the Lunar Landers will be dropped from a distance.   For this engineering experiment, the payload will be a raw egg, and the "Moon" will be the Library's parking lot.   The height of the drop will be determined that day based on weather and wind.

The Library wishes to thank the La Salle Fire Department for their assistance with this fun challenge.   This program is free and open to the public, but due to space and supplies, requires registration, and is limited to 20 families.   For more information, contact the Library at 815-223-2341 or visit the Library's website or Facebook page for online registration.   The La Salle Public Library is located at 305 Marquette Rd., La Salle
