"When Women Played Baseball" Program by Author Barbara Gregovich at La Salle Public Library. Barbara Gregovich, whose 1993 book Women at Play: The Story of Women in Baseball received SABR-Macmillan Award for best baseball research, will speak on When Women Played Baseball: The Story of Margaret, Nellie, and Rose at the La Salle Public Library on Tuesday, March 6, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Her talk will be accompanied by a colorful computerized slideshow of the three teens who played hardball during the Great Depression, and of Maud Nelson, the woman who made it possible for them to do so. In 2013 this talk was part of the Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholar program.
After the presentation, Gregorich will answer questions from the audience. She will have several of her baseball books for sale, as well as her popular title: Guide to Writing the Mystery Novel: Lots of Examples, Plus Dead Bodies.
