"Gingerbread Decorating Workshops at the La Salle Public Library"

Where:
La Salle Public Library

When
Saturday, December 15, 2018

On Saturday, December 15th at 10:00 a.m. and again at 2:00 p.m. the La Salle Public Library will offer a special Holiday Family Weekend workshop.  Beginning with pre-made "gingerbread" houses constructed using graham crackers and royal icing.   "Welcome to Gingerbread Lane" lets participants get right into the fun of decorating!

All supplies will be furnished along with instructions and basic techniques.   All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  The program is free and open to the public and geared to children ages five and older.   Families will leave with a decorated house and will also learn techniques that can help them modify decorating to change the appearance of the house in a variety of ways and to alter the construction before decorating to create a larger, more complex structure.   Additional ideas will be explored for personalizing the decorated houses with trees, snowpeople, walkways, and "outdoor" decorations.

Because space is limited to 25 children per workshop, this program will require registration.  Each workshop will run for two hours and begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. until Noon, and 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Registration via phone or in-person is required no later than Monday, December 10th at 5:00 p.m.   To register, call the library at 815-223-2341.  The La Salle Public Library is located at 305 Marquette St., La Salle, IL
