"Food for Fines" at the La Salle Public Library
Wipe the slate clean while helping area food pantries with the 10th annual Food for Fines program at participating libraries. Beginning on Tuesday, November 12th through Saturday, November 23rd, La Salle Public Library will accept non-perishable food donations toward payment of overdue fines. Each donated food item eliminates $1.00 in fines with a maximum of 25 items per library card. Donated food only applies to overdue fines, not fines for lost and/or damaged materials.
Suggested food items include cereal, canned fruits and/or vegetables, soup, rice, peanut butter, Jell-O, pasta mixes, pudding and canned meats. Because of food safety concerns, the pantries request items be in their original packaging; damaged packages, outdated food or glass containers are not accepted for Food for Fines.
For more information, please call the Library at 815-223-2341. The La Salle Public Library is located at 305 Marquette Street, La Salle and is ADA compliant and welcoming.
