Municipal Electric Aggregation Notice (Regarding 'Opt Out' letters residents may receive)
The City of LaSalle is participating in the Municipal Aggregation Program in a buying group with other communities for electric supply for better buying power. The City of LaSalle has selected Constellation as the new supplier. The new electric supply rates begin October 2024 until June 2025. The supply priced is $0.07719 per kWh compared to the current Ameren price to compare $0.08136. Before the end of the contract, the community will re-evaluate options for residents and small businesses.
Eligible residents and small businesses will receive an opt-out letter on or around August 21, 2024. If you wish to participate in the The City of LaSalle negotiated electric supply rate, you do not need to do anything further.
If you Do Not wish to participate, you are required to respond to the opt-out letter by September 11, 2024. Instructions will be provided on the letter with Constellation. All of the details will be on the letter you receive and direct questions as provided on the letter.
If you currently have another supplier than the current municipal aggregation supplier, please review the contract terms prior to leaving the contract.
Ameren will still deliver the electricity to your home or business. Please contact Ameren in the case of emergencies, outages, and service calls at 800.755.5000.
La Salle Municipal Aggregation FAQ
Recently the City of La Salle renewed their municipal aggregation program with a new supplier, Constellation. This provides a fixed rate of 7.719¢ per kWh, which is lower than the current aggregation rate with Dynegy of 8.25¢ and lower than the Ameren rate of 8.136¢. Letters will go out to residents in the next week or so.
Is this letter a scam?
No this letter is not a scam. Its purpose is to inform residents of the new municipal aggregation program.
Will my rate change?
If your current provider is Dynegy, they will receive the lower rate of 7.719¢ with Constellation starting in October.
Can I be removed from this program?
Yes, at any time one can Opt Out of the program without any penalty and cancellation fee and move to paying the Ameren rate. If you’d like to be removed from the program, you can follow directions on the letter you received, or email La Salle’s consultant Adam Hoover and he can process your request (ahoover@nimec.net)
If I already have a different power supplier, or solar, how will this impact me?
Nothing will change. If residents have made a decision for their own power supplier, they will not be impacted. If those residents would like to join the program they can at no cost. It is recommended that they check with their current supplier to ensure there are no cancellation fees.
How will my billing change?
Residents will still be billed and have their power delivered by Ameren. If there is a power outage, they can still call Ameren to receive support.
What if someone comes to my door to sell me energy?
Any solicitor who comes to your door or calls asking you to switch to a new supplier is not associated with La Salle, Constellation or Ameren.
