"Of Wigwams and Tepees," October Family Night at La Salle Library.  On Thursday, October 19th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. the La Salle Public Library will host Burpee Museum Educator and Historian, Betsy Carlson when she presents "Of Wigwams and Tepees," an interactive program about the native people who once lived in the Midwest before the land was colonized by Europeans and Americans.   When Illinois was tall grass prairie, meeting the forest to the north, the Sauk and Fox, Potawatomi and Winnebago lived in villages along the streams.   The tall grass prairie of the plains where the people lived in tepees.   

Using artefacts from these cultures, Betsy Carlson will help participants explore and understand these Native American cultures.
