La Salle Public Library opens to browsing
The LaSalle Public Library will be open to the public for in-person browsing effective immediately between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Staff asks that any individual who is over the age of two (2) and able to medically tolerate a face-covering/mask is required to cover their nose and mouth with a face-covering/mask when in the Library and to maintain six-foot (6) social distancing.
Both entrances (Marquette Street and Route 6/Third Street) are open. Patrons are welcome to browse the collection but are asked to limit visits from ten (10) to fifteen (15) minutes. Per state mitigation, the Library will adhere to capacity limits. When these limits are reached, doors will be locked briefly; if this occurs, please call the Library at 815-223-2341 for more information. Library users may check-out materials including up to three (3) new adult fiction books and four (4) DVDs. All Library materials need to be returned in the outdoor book drops located at the Route 6/Third Street entrance. Staff will be quarantining incoming library materials for three (3) days before allowing material to circulate again.
Curbside service is still available. To schedule a pick-up time, please call the Library at 815-223-2341 during open hours, Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Library users can also send curbside requests to firstname.lastname@example.org. Computer access is available in Adult Services for up to thirty (30) minutes. Individuals working on an unemployment claim, homework assignment, tax return, or job searching, should advise the staff when checking in at the circulation desk.
The Library will continue to offer free access to e-books/digital resources, as well as full-text articles, and genealogy research through Heritage Quest. Based on the recommendations from the CDC, lounge chairs and study tables will remain unavailable. In-person programming remains suspended as well as the use of the Meeting Room by non-library groups.
Live, free virtual programming will continue to be offered via Zoom. Visit the Library’s website (lasalle.lib.il.us) and/or Facebook page for a list of upcoming programs and registration instructions. The LaSalle Public Library is located at 305 Marquette Street, LaSalle, Illinois and is ADA compliant and welcoming. For more information, please call the Library at 815-223-2341.
