Mandala Stone Painting for Adults at La Salle Public Library

Where:
La Salle Public Library

When
Tuesday, January 28, 2020

On Tuesday, January 28th at 6:00 p.m., the La Salle Public Library will host Christy Donahue, owner of The Rock and Soul in Utica, when she facilitates an artful and relaxing creative workshop, especially for adults.  In this workshop, participants will use special painting tools to form artistic patterns of dots in a variety of sizes and colors to create a beautiful design on large, flat stones.

Mandala painting is synonymous with both beauty and mediation.   Created as far back as the 4th century by Tibetan Monks, mandalas, historically were designed in geometric patterns using fine grains of colored sand.  Mandalas are seen throughout history in cultures around the world, and in materials other than sand.   Designs can be found in stained glass windows of Christian churches, in Native American symbolism using natural materials, in both North and South America, in India with colored rice and beans, and in contemporary art using paint.

This program is free and open to the public, but is limited to 15 participants and requires registration.   The La Salle Public Library is located at 305 Marquette Street, La Salle, and is ADA compliant and welcoming.  For more information or to register, please call the Library at 815-223-2131.
