La Salle Public Library

When
Tuesday, November 27, 2018

On Tuesday, November 27th, at 6:00 p.m. the La Salle Public Library will host scholar, Leslie Goddard, when she presents, "Remembering Marshall Field's at Christmas."

For many Chicagoans, no Christmas season was complete without a visit to Marshall Field's, the city's grande dame of department stores.   This illustrated talk traces the store's beloved holiday traditions, including the Walnut Room Christmas tree, the holiday window display, the toy department, Cozy Cloud cottage, and the Christmas catalogue.   See family photos with Santa Claus over the years, and peek behind the scenes at the employee party.

Leslie Goddard is an award-winning actress and scholar who has been portraying famous women and presenting history lectures for more than ten years.  A former museum director, she is the author of two books on Chicago history and currently works full-time as a historical interpreter, author, and public speaker.

This program is free and open to the public and is made possible through funding by the Alwin C. Carus Trust.   The La Salle Library is located at 305 Marquette St., La Salle.   For more information, contact the Library at 815-223-2341.
