On Tuesday, October 3rd at 6:00 p.m. the La Salle Public Library will host traveler and historian, Victor Croasdale for a trip around the world, and back in time with his presentation "The Monasteries of Mount Athos, Greece." An autonomous state under Greek sovereignty, Mount Athos is an important center of Eastern Orthodox Monasticism, with traditions that extend back to the Byzantine era. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, Mount Athos is recognized as an artistic center, originating a school of painting that influenced the development of Orthodox art as far away as Russia.
