"Mandala Stone Painting for Adults" at La Salle Public Library
On Tuesday, November 19th at 6:00 p.m., the La Salle Public Library will host "Mandala Stone Painting," an artful and relaxing creative workshop, especially for adults. In this workshop, participants will use special paint tools to form artistic patterns of multiple dots in a variety of sizes and colors to create a beautiful design on large, flat stones.
Mandala painting is synonymous with both beauty and meditation. Created as far back as the 4th century by Tibetan Monks, mandalas, historically were designed in geometric patterns using fine grains of colored sand. Mandalas ares seen throughout history in cultures around the world, and in materials other than sand. Designs can be found in stained glass windows of Christian churches, in Native American symbolism using natural materials, in both North and South America, in India with colored rice and beans, and in contemporary art using paint.
This program is free and open to the public, but is limited to 12 participants and requires registration. The La Salle Public Library is located at 305 Marquette Street, La Salle and is ADA compliant and welcoming. For more information, contact the Library at 815-223-2341.
