"Monsters of the Midwest" at the La Salle Library
On Saturday, May 18th at 2:00 p.m. the La Salle Public Library will host Burpee Museum Educator and Historian, Betsy Carlson, when she presents, "Monsters of the Midwest".
Try as we might, looking as hard as we can we will not find dinosaur bones in Illinois. But wait - there are monsters to be found! Betsy will bring these monsters to life, using an interactive presentation and real fossils that the audience can touch. The audience will meet the giant Cephalopods from the Ordovician time period, then travel to the Carboniferous period where giant arthropods ruled, with the strangest monster of all, the Tully Monster. The expedition will conclude with a visit with the giant mammoths and mastodons that roamed Illinois during the Ice Age. This unique and engaging presentation is great for all ages, families and adults.
All children in attendance will receive a gift book courtesy of First Book and a take-home snack courtesy of District #122, La Salle Schools. This is a free family program, open to the public, and is made possible through funding by the Alwin C. Carus Trust. The La Salle Public Library is located at 305 Marquette, La Salle, IL For more information, please call the Library at 815-223-2341.
