"Immigrant Gardens" at La Salle Library

On Tuesday, July 30th, at 6:00 p.m., the La Salle Public Library will host Horticulturist and Plant Ecologist, Brian Pruka, when he presents, "Immigrant Gardens."   When immigrants first arrived in this country, they brought with many aspects of their culture, which included gardening traditions.   In this unique presentation, Brian will discuss the horticultural contributions that various groups brought with them when immigrated, and the impact they had on the development of modern American gardens.

Brian Pruka is a horticulturist, plant ecology researcher.  He has worked at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston, the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway in Boston, the Allen C. Haskell Public Gardens in New Bedford, and the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford.   Brian is also an avid birdwatcher.   Presently, he works as a Garden Coordinator at the Midway Village Museum in Rockford.
