When
Tuesday, February 9, 2021

On Tuesday, February 9th, at 6:00 p.m., the La Salle Public Library will virtually host lecturer, Laura Keys, when she presents, "The History of the Hershey Chocolate Company."

Today the name Hershey is synonymous with quality milk chocolate.  But that wasn't always the case.  Milton S. Hershey worked hard and failed often before his chocolate was finally successful, and when did become a household name and earned a vast fortune, Milton and his wife, Catherine, decided to give it all away.   Because of their generosity, tens of thousands of orphans have been saved, protected, and educated.  Find out more about this American success story and the philanthropy engendered in this illustrated biographical lecture.

Laura Keyes graduated from UW-Madison with a master's degree in Library Studies and has been presenting on historic topics for over ten years.  She enjoys researching literary symbolism and is contracted to write a book on that subject.   Laura Keyes is currently the Director of Dunlap Public Library District in Dunlap, IL.
