Free Tax Assistance at La Salle Public Library

On Tuesday, February 11th, the La Salle Public Library will host a free tax assistance program.   Experienced tax preparers from AARP will be available, by appointment, to assist low and middle income families and senior citizens with filing their tax returns.   Appointments are made on a "first come, first serve" basis, and can be made by calling the Library at 815-223-2341,.   This program is administered through the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the IRS.  

All federal and state forms will be filed electronically.  Individuals are asked to bring their Social Security Card or Statement, Driver's License or State ID, proof of all income, a copy of their current property tax bill, and a copy of last year's returns.  If filing jointly, both parties must be present at the appointment, unless they have Power of Attorney.   Appointments are in 30 minute increments, beginning at 9:15 am.   Last appointments of the day will be at 2:30 p.m. 

Appointments dates are as follows:

Tuesday, February 11th, Tuesday, February 18th, Tuesday, February 25th, Tuesday, March 3rd, Tuesday, March 10th, Tuesday, March 17th, Tuesday, March 24th, Tuesday, march 31st, and Tuesday, April 7th.
